This autumn sailing from Alexandria retraces the Aegean Odyssey’s spring voyage to Roman North Africa and Malta (although this sailing includes an extra day in Tunis in order to visit the remarkable Roman ruins at Dougga). Overlooked by mass tourism, the Graeco- Roman sites of North Africa are among the most magnificent and well-preserved to be found anywhere in the Mediterranean. As most of the important ruins are located on the coast or in remote rural areas, their natural setting is breathtaking. Visiting the spectacular temples and cities left by the Phoenicians, Greeks and, above all, Romans along the southern coast of the Middle Sea is the highlight of this itinerary.
