From the port of El Marsa, drive inland across Saharan dunes to reach Laayoune, the main city in Morocco’s Western Sahara. Explore the Spanish-Saharan architecture of the Souk ez Saj, the city’s old district; the Museum of Traditional Arts; and the Artisans Center’s craft workshops. After visiting a nearby oasis, where you will enjoy an elaborate Saharan tea show, end the day with a drive in the dunes.

From Santos, travel to dynamic Sao Paulo. Discover the city’s historic buildings, contemporary architecture and its Museu de Arte. Enjoy free time on the famous Avenida Paulista, perhaps exploring its elegant cafes and boutiques. Alternatively, spend the day in Santos, Brazil’s most important port and the center of the country’s coffee exports. Among its sights are 17th-century churches, the coffee exchange, and the Orchid Garden. In the nearby village of Itatinga, see one of Brazil’s remaining coastal forests, which is home to a rich biodiversity. Also enjoy a swim in one of Santos’ inviting beaches.

One of Argentina’s oldest and most famous resorts, Mar del Plata is now a thriving city. From Rambla, a promenade facing Playa Bristol, explore the city, including the Cathedral; the Villa Ortiz Basualdo, housing the Municipal Museum of Art; the Victoria Ocampo Cultural Center, an early 1900s house in lovely gardens; and the Sea Museum.

Spend two days exploring the wildlife-rich Falkland Islands, including Westpoint Island, where we’ll walk across the moors to a rookery of black-browed albatross and rockhopper penguins. On Saunders Island, explore the dramatic beaches, teeming with Gentoo and Magellanic penguins, as well as cormorant and black-browed albatross colonies. Continue to Stanley, the quaint capital.
