our Dubrovnik, one of Europe’s best-preserved medieval cities. Dubrovnik’s ancient walls enclose narrow cobbled streets and alleyways, palaces and mansions as well as other imposing monuments. Early in the afternoon, sail through the archipelago of islands facing Dubrovnik to anchor at a secluded bay at the island of Sipan, where guests may enjoy swimming from the ship’s marina. In the evening, the ship docks in Korcula.

Day 4
KORCULA
On a walking tour of Korcula, note the unique layout of the medieval town, with western streets running straight to funnel the refreshing maestral breezes, while the eastern streets are slightly curved to minimize the bura winds. See the dominating Venetian influence in St. Mark’s Cathedral, and visit the Cathedral Treasury, Bishop’s Palace, the Town Museum (located in the 16th-century Gabriellis Palace), the Church of All Saints and the Icon Museum. Also explore Blato, a beautiful village and the center of Korcula’s wine-growing district. Late in the afternoon, anchor at Loviste for swimming, and then continue to Hvar, arriving in the evening

Day 5
HVAR
Hvar is a fertile island of pale stone houses surrounded by rosemary, lavender and laurel. The architecture is unmistakably Venetian. Spend the day exploring at a leisurely pace, including the main town, with its imposing old Loggia and arsenal and the 17th-century Municipal Theater. Also tour the island’s interior with its lavender fields. In the afternoon, enjoy a swim as Callisto anchors off Pakleni Otoci, a group of tiny islands.

Day 6
SPLIT

In A.D. 305, the Roman Emperor Diocletion came to Split to build his palace. Spread around its spacious harbor, Split is today dominated by Diocletian’s enormous palace, which encompasses within its confines the city’s medieval town. Tour the palace in the morning, situated a short walk from the harbor, and see well-preserved buildings of the late Roman period, including the mausoleum of Diocletian, and the baptistery, previously a temple dedicated to Jupiter. Enjoy the afternoon at leisure to explore Split’s medieval town on your own, or alternatively, drive to the outskirts of the city to explore the remains of the Roman city of Salona, and visit the Archaeological Museum.

Day 7
PESARO | URBINO | PESARO, ITALY

Arrive in Pesaro, a handsome city and the birthplace of the composer Gioacchino Rosini. Drive to nearby Urbino, one of Italy’s best-preserved Renaissance towns, overlooking the glorious countryside of the Marches. Visit the famed Palazo Ducale, a masterpiece of Renaissance architecture, which houses the National Gallery of the Marches. Also, see the Church of San Giovanni Battista, with its frescoes, and the house of native son Raphael, the great Renaissance master. Return to Pesaro and spend the afternoon at leisure.

Day 8
RAVENNA | COMACCHIO | RAVENNA

In the morning, Callisto will enter the canal that leads to Ravenna and dock near the city center. Ravenna is famed for the abundance of its Byzantine monuments, which we will visit in the morning, including the Mausoleum of Galla Placidia, the Basilica of San Vitale and The Basilica of Sant’ Apollinare in Classe, all adorned with magnificent mosaics. Spend the afternoon at leisure to explore Ravenna, or alternatively, drive north to discover Comacchio, a picturesque small town with attractive canal-lined small streets that are crossed with bridges dating from the 16th and 17th centuries.

Day 9
ROVINJ | DVIGRAD | SVETVINCENAT | ROVINJ, ISTRIA, CROATIA

Sailing across the northern Adriatic, Callisto will anchor in the idyllic Brioni Islands, near Istria’s west coast, for swimming, and later will dock in Rovinj. Built into a hillside surrounded by the sea, and with its Venetian architecture, Rovinj presents an unforgettable sight. Climb the narrow streets that lead to the top of the hill, crowned by a church and its elegant bell tower. Travel to Istria’s interior to discover the abandoned walled city of Dvigrad and the characteristic village of Svetvincenat. Callisto will dock overnight in Rovinj.

Day 10
PIRAN, SLOVENIA

Swim in one of Istria’s bays before docking in Slovenia’s Piran, one of the jewels of the Adriatic. Superbly sited on the tip of a long peninsula, Piran boasts elegant Venetian inspired architecture and arched alleyways that accentuate its medieval past. Explore the town leisurely, including the historic buildings around Tartinjen Square, the Church of St. George, dating from the 12th century, and the Church of St. Francis, noted for its paintings. Stroll through Piran on your own before the ship sails late in the evening.

Day 11

We enter fabled Venice, perhaps Europe’s most unique and sublime city where water and light work a special magic on the ancient stones and canals. There will be a choice of tours to such landmark sites as the Doges’ Palace and St. Mark’s Basilica as well as to less visited gems like the Sansoviniana Library. Callisto docks overnight in port so that you may enjoy Venice on your own.
