Some passenger sailing vessels were built as private luxury yachts and have been remodeled to current standards. Others are modern ships based on designs from earlier times. All sailing ships are equipped with motors and range from a five-masted ship with 42 sails to small sailing yachts for intimate groups of 20. Larger ships may offer amenities found on other cruise ships, such as swimming pools, fitness centers and spas.
