Viking World Voyage IV

Disembark your ship and depart for the airport and your flight to Reykjavík. Upon arrival, you will be met by a Viking Representative before making the short transfer to your hotel. After check-in, you will have a chance to rest and enjoy the remainder of the day at your leisure. Your Viking Tour Director is available to help you plan your time in Iceland so you can make the most of your visit.

Enter the surreal lava landscape of the Reykjanes Peninsula, where you will come upon the Blue Lagoon, a natural geothermal spa. Enjoy a dip in these warm waters before returning to Reykjavík. You will also have an opportunity to embark on a guided tour of Reykjavík. See its famous landmarks, including the steel and mirrored-glass dome of the Perlan (“The Pearl”), the imposing Hallgrímskirkja church and the Höfði House, site of the 1986 summit between the US and the Soviets. Embark on a scenic drive to beautiful Thingvellir National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The area is surrounded by mountains and encompasses a vast lava plain of green moss and wildflowers. Continue to the Geysir hot springs area, where hissing springs and other geothermal phenomena will surround you. After lunch, drive to the Gullfoss waterfall, then visit Kerid Crater, one of the more dramatic craters dotting Iceland’s landscape. Return to Reykjavík for an evening at leisure. (B, L)

After breakfast, check out of your hotel and your Viking Representative will escort you to the airport for your flight home. (B)

Fly in to Los Angeles and transfer to your hotel. Enjoy the remainder of the day exploring on your own, taking in the glamour of Beverly Hills with its chic shops on Rodeo Drive. Or visit the bustling farmers’ market in Fairfax, the city’s open air dining emporium. A Viking Host is available to help you plan your time in Los Angeles so you can make the most of your visit.

Enjoy a day at leisure to explore Los Angeles. You may choose to take a scenic tour of the city, viewing sights such as the Hollywood Walk of Fame, the Dolby Theater and the historic Grauman’s Chinese Theater. Or, pass the famed Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel and pause for photos of the iconic Hollywood sign. Alternately, head to Burbank, where you can tour the backlots of Warner Bros. Studio. This evening, dine at your hotel or at one of the city’s many fine-dining establishments. (B)

After breakfast, embark on a panoramic drive along the coast through Santa Monica en route to the Getty Villa in Malibu. This esteemed museum is home to more than 1,200 Greek, Roman and Etruscan antiquities. Enjoy a guided tour of its vast collection of priceless artifacts, then stroll around the villa’s grounds. Marvel at the aromatic herb garden, reflecting pools, ornate fountains and covered walkways that lead to sweeping views of the Pacific Ocean. This afternoon, transfer to your ship. (B)
