Viking River Cruises
Viking Bragi is part of Viking’s acclaimed fleet of Longships, purpose-built for seamless cruising along Europe’s most storied rivers. With accommodations for 190 guests, Viking Bragi offers a thoughtfully curated blend of Scandinavian design, cultural immersion, and personalized service. Named after Bragi, the Norse god of poetry and eloquence, the ship embodies the spirit of storytelling and artistic discovery—a fitting tribute for a vessel that journeys through Europe’s historic cities and landscapes.
At the heart of Viking Bragi’s appeal is its efficient yet elegant design. The ship’s revolutionary longship layout includes an off-center corridor, allowing for larger staterooms and suites without compromising public space. Expansive floor-to-ceiling windows in the Lounge and restaurant, as well as the Aquavit Terrace, keep guests visually connected to the passing scenery—from vineyard-covered hills to medieval castles and charming riverside villages.
Accommodations on Viking Bragi are spacious and refined, with all staterooms facing the river to maximize views. Options range from Standard Staterooms with half-height windows to French Balcony and Veranda Staterooms, as well as Veranda Suites and the indulgent Explorer Suites. Each room features hotel-style beds, flat-screen infotainment systems, heated bathroom floors, large showers, and premium bath amenities. The understated, modern décor—marked by light woods and natural textiles—creates a tranquil retreat after a day of exploration.
The ship’s public areas are designed for both social connection and quiet reflection. The Lounge is the social heart of the vessel, hosting lectures, live music, and cultural demonstrations. It flows seamlessly into the Aquavit Terrace, a unique indoor-outdoor space ideal for casual dining or relaxing with a drink as the sun sets over the riverbanks. The Sun Deck provides a walking track, herb garden, putting green, and ample seating for panoramic viewing.
Culinary offerings aboard Viking Bragi reflect a deep commitment to local flavor and freshness. The main restaurant serves multi-course meals rooted in regional traditions—from Hungarian goulash and Austrian schnitzel to German sausages and French patisserie. Meals are complemented by complimentary wines, beers, and soft drinks at lunch and dinner. The Aquavit Terrace offers a lighter dining option with an open-air setting, particularly appealing on warm days.
Cultural enrichment is a cornerstone of the Viking Bragi experience. Each cruise includes complimentary, guided shore excursions in every port, led by knowledgeable local guides. These may include walking tours of historic towns, visits to UNESCO World Heritage Sites, wine tastings, and access to castles, museums, or working farms. Optional excursions delve deeper, offering behind-the-scenes experiences that range from opera performances to artisan workshops.
Whether sailing the Rhine, Main, or Danube, Viking Bragi offers a deeply enriching journey through Europe’s cultural and scenic heartlands. Its elegant design, immersive itineraries, and personalized service make it a perfect choice for travelers who value comfort, insight, and authenticity.
Dining
Dining aboard the Viking Bragi revolves around the Restaurant, an open-seating room where menus draw on the regions along the route. The Aquavit Terrace adds a casual, al fresco option for lighter meals and relaxed mornings spent watching the scenery drift by.

Good to know
Wi-Fi is free on Viking's river ships across Europe, Egypt, and the Mississippi, and shared computers are available on board. The connection runs over cellular or satellite, so expect speeds to dip in locks, valleys, and remote stretches of river.
Daytime dress is casual: shorts in warm weather, slacks or jeans, and comfortable walking shoes. Evenings are elegant casual, with no formal nights; a jacket and tie are optional. Pack modest attire for shore excursions that visit religious sites.
Gratuities are always at your discretion. Viking publishes a recommended rate per guest, per night, which can be prepaid before sailing or settled on your shipboard account. We go over the details with you when you book.
Staterooms on Viking's European river ships carry both 110V US-style outlets and 220V outlets that take German Schuko two-pin plugs. If you need an adapter, any travel or electronics store will have one.
Vegetarian options appear at every meal, and the galley can prepare low-salt, diabetic, gluten-free, and low-cholesterol meals with advance notice. Tell us about dietary needs when you book, at least 90 days before departure, and remind the maitre d' once on board.
Guests who need mobility support travel with a companion who can assist, and wheelchairs must be no wider than 22 inches. Viking requires an accessibility form at least 30 days before departure; we take care of submitting it when you book with us.
The ships are nonsmoking throughout, including staterooms and verandas, with one designated outdoor smoking area. The policy covers e-cigarettes as well.
Laundry and pressing are complimentary in some stateroom categories and available for a modest fee in the rest, arranged through your stateroom steward. Dry cleaning is not offered on board. Ships on the Mississippi add free self-service launderettes.

Viking River Cruises is the largest river cruise line in the world, known for elegant ships, destination-led itineraries, and a strong cultural program. The voyages run along Europe's great rivers and reach the Nile, the Mekong, and the Mississippi, pairing comfort and enrichment with real time ashore. A modern fleet of purpose-built longships and a focus on thoughtful design set the tone for the whole experience.
Viking's river ships are built for comfort and discovery in equal measure, with a relaxed but refined feel on board. Each carries fewer than 200 guests, so the setting stays intimate, with generous public areas, all-outside staterooms, and attentive service from departure to return.
Built for discovery, Viking's river cruises ask you to slow down and read each region more closely than a packed land tour allows.
Whether you sail the heart of Europe or reach farther afield, Viking's itineraries balance the must-see landmarks with the smaller places that travelers tend to miss. Longer port time, well-built excursions, and curated cultural access run through every voyage.
