Viking Ocean Cruises
Launching in late 2026, the Viking Libra represents a bold leap forward in environmentally responsible cruising. As the first cruise ship in the world to feature a hybrid propulsion system using liquefied hydrogen and fuel cells, it sets a new benchmark for zero-emission maritime travel. This innovation not only enhances efficiency but allows Viking Libra to sail in ecologically sensitive regions with minimal impact.
Constructed by Fincantieri in Ancona, Italy, the ship stretches 238 meters in length and welcomes 998 guests in 499 elegantly appointed, all-veranda staterooms. True to Viking’s signature Scandinavian design philosophy, the interiors emphasize clean lines, natural materials, and soothing spaces that prioritize guest comfort. Onboard highlights include a Nordic-inspired spa, an infinity-edge pool, multiple fine dining venues, and cultural enrichment programs hosted by onboard experts.
Viking Libra will debut with a 10-day "Greek Odyssey" itinerary, departing from Athens and exploring a curated mix of cultural and coastal gems such as Santorini, Crete, Thessaloniki, and Rhodes. Future itineraries will span the Mediterranean and Northern Europe, offering immersive experiences with extended stays and overnight visits in key ports.
Dining
Food on Viking Libra spans a full range for its roughly 998 guests. Sit-down service centers on The Restaurant, while World Café keeps a buffet running for those who prefer to graze, both with regional menus that follow the route. The specialty rooms are Manfredi's Italian Restaurant, The Kitchen Table, and The Chef's Table; Mamsen's, Aquavit Terrace, and the Pool Grill fill the in-between hours.

Good to know
Wi-Fi is free across the fleet, with shared computers in the Business Center on Deck 1. The satellite connection is the best available at sea, though speeds can slow in remote waters or rough weather.
Days are casual: shorts, slacks or jeans, and comfortable shoes, with swimwear and workout gear kept to the pool, spa, and fitness areas. Evenings are elegant casual across all venues, performances, and special events, and there are no formal nights.
Viking's recommended gratuity is $20 per person, per night, either prepaid before you sail or added to your shipboard account. Anything beyond that is entirely at your discretion. We sort out the arrangements with you at booking.
Staterooms carry both 110V and 220V power. Most outlets are European two-pin style, but every stateroom also has US 110V sockets: two above the desk and one on each side of the bed. There are no UK three-pin sockets; adapters are sold in the onboard shop.
Vegetarian options appear at every meal, and the galley can prepare low-salt, diabetic, gluten-free, and low-cholesterol meals with advance notice. Tell us about dietary needs when you book, at least 90 days before departure, and remind the maitre d' once on board.
Viking welcomes guests with disabilities and asks that they be comfortable moving about the ship independently or travel with a companion who can assist. Flag accessibility needs with us before booking so the right stateroom and arrangements are in place from the start.
The ships are nonsmoking throughout, including staterooms and verandas, except for one designated outdoor area on the starboard side of Deck 8. E-cigarettes fall under the same policy.
Free self-service launderettes with irons and detergent are located on Decks 3 through 6. Some stateroom categories include complimentary laundry and pressing; the rest can use the service for a fee through the stateroom steward.
Viking Ocean Cruises builds the modern ocean voyage around cultural depth, understated design, and real time in port. The line is known for a fleet of small, all-veranda ships and an adults-only feel that suits travelers who want thoughtful comfort and serious enrichment over onboard spectacle. With each ship carrying 930 guests and itineraries reaching Europe, Asia, the Americas, and farther, Viking takes a calm, Scandinavian approach to the world's most storied destinations.
Viking's ocean ships are designed to feel intimate and grown-up at once. The look is sleek and restrained, with spaces that suit conversation, quiet reading, and learning, so each ship reads more like a floating boutique hotel than a resort at sea.
There are no casinos, no formal nights, and no onboard gimmicks. Viking Ocean Cruises keeps the focus on comfort, connection, and a closer read of each place you visit.
Viking's voyages are built for time on the ground, with longer port calls, overnight stays, and routes that pair famous capitals with smaller harbors most lines skip. Each itinerary is shaped to teach you something about where you are.

Every itinerary reflects Viking's bias toward cultural enrichment and genuine engagement, both on board and ashore.
We include Viking Ocean Cruises in our portfolio because the line does what it says. Elegant simplicity, cultural immersion, and steady service match how we think about small-ship travel, and they suit the traveler who wants more than a conventional cruise.
We work directly with Viking to build the voyage around you, from air and hotel arrangements to private touring and pre or post-cruise extensions, so the planning stays out of your way.
Booking your Viking Ocean voyage through Small Ship Travel gives you a partner who knows the ships and the itineraries, not just a reservation. We bring first-hand knowledge, tailored planning, and added value at every stage of the trip.
